Week 5: Editing
After learning about mise-en-scene, we had to go on and learn about more techniques which are used in the film industry in order to make a good movie. This included editing. When it came to editing, we had to learn about the different editing techniques which are used during a filming process. Out of all terminology which we had to learn, I have to say that I did find editing the most difficult to remember. This is because we had to learn the names of each editing technique and we also had to identify how different the editing techniques are to one another. For example the difference between continuity editing and non-continuity editing is that continuity editing emphasises smooth transitions between shots while non-continuity editing emphasises the difference between the shots in order to grab the audience’s attention.
